Blogging | Wordpress Lessons for Beginners : Part 1

Starting a blog is no longer enough. The primary purpose of this Series is to give beginners a step by step, quick reference guide, to getting their sites online fast. The faster you are online, the faster you can start generating cash flow. There are millions of blogs out there, and most of them get nowhere because they don’t have a strategy in place.

Many people ask me a question Which is better: Blogger or WordPress?” The answer really all depends on what features you need and what you plan to do with your blog. But according to me blogspot is best for start-up.

In this post, you’ll not only learn blogging for beginners, but you’ll get knowledge how you can take to dramatically increase your chances of success.

1. Passion

Don’t just start a blog because you want to make money. You can easily generate money by blog but it takes time. If you want to build a thriving blog that brings in revenue, you will have to work hard, and to stay motivated, you have to find something you’re passionate about. Always make a blog related to your interest.

2. Define Your Goals

Before you start a new blog, it's essential that you define your goals for it. Your blog has a greater chance of success if you know from the beginning what you hope to accomplish with it. Are you trying to establish yourself as an expert in your field? Are you trying to promote your business? Are you simply blogging for fun and to share your ideas and opinions? Your short and long term goals for your blog are dependent on the reason why you're starting your blog. Think ahead to what you'd like to gain from your blog in six months, one year and three years. Then design, write and market your blog to meet those goals.

3. Purpose

When your purpose is weak, your chances of giving up somewhere along the way go up dramatically.
So ask yourself the following questions:
  • Why are you starting a blog?
  • What do you want to get out of doing this?
  • Why do you want to succeed?
If you have a strong reason for starting your blog, you will go far. This is a long-term game. Always remember that.

4. Niche

The next step is to find your niche. be expert in your field. The best way to stand out from all the millions of blogs out there is to become an expert in a highly targeted area. Think opt-in conversion expert instead of email marketing. Think turning your blog into a wiki instead of just general blogging tips.

5. Personality

To really stand out from all the noise, you have to inject your personality and expertise into your blog.
There are too many people out there teaching something they have no experience in. If you don’t have experience, get some. The more you know, the more you can share with your audience, and the more they will grow to know, trust and like you.

6. Solve a Problem

One addendum to finding your niche is to make sure you solve a problem.
Money is made by solving problems for people. If you can help someone get more subscribers on their list and make more money, you’re solving a problem.
So think about what problem you’re solving, and then do some research on if people are willing to pay for having that problem fixed.

6. Basic Things You Must Do

If you are ready to get your own web site online, there are three basic things that you will need to accomplish.
1. Get a domain name.
2. Get web hosting.
3. Create your web site.

But If you are using blogspot and wordpress then no need to purchase domain name and hosting. Just register your blog name on these sites.

7. Come Up with a Domain Name

There are many ways of coming up with an excellent domain name, but in the end, you alone have to decide what kind of name and brand you want to build.
A few tips for coming up with a good domain name is to make it:
  • Unique
  • Memorable
  • Easy to spell
  • Concise
Coming up with a name is tough, so go for good enough instead of perfect.

Before you start building your new site, it is a good idea to make a text or word “set up file” for every site that you make.

This gives you a central point of reference for keywords, articles, affiliate links, and other important site data all in one central place.

Open a text file and name it SiteSetupYOURNEWDOMAIN.
Some of the things you might include in your site set up file are:
  • Name of new site domain
  • Date site was launched
  • Primary keywords to target
  • Affiliate links for products to sell
  • Main article
  • Plugins you’ll use (all in one seo, google xml sitemap, etc.)
  • Permalinks settings code: %postname%/
  • And any other info that you will need for your site
