Every one of us is well aware about the word “Autorun” . When this word comes in every one of us Just think about one more word virus. We always relate this word with virus but this is not fully true. Here I’m gonna tell you what exactly does this word means. We often use Windows Bootable cd’s, DVD’s and pendrives and You can see Autorun.inf file there When you see it there first of all you think to delete this file from your removable Drive so here I am with a post which will tell you about autorun.inf file.
Auto-run is a simple text file which can be easily edited by notepad and When you mount any cd/Dvd or Plug-in any removable media this file tells your system which executable file to run, which icon to use and In other words autorun .inf file tells the windows how to deal with data of this drive. The whole process is initiated when you plug-in your pen-drive or CD/DVD, windows first search the Autorun.inf file in the root directory and then take its action according to it. If no autorun.inf file is found, then Windows refers to the new disk by its serial number and executes the default actions associated with the (data or audio) content on the disk
Here is an example of Autorun.inf file:
                [autorun]
                open=autorun.exe
