10 Key Tips And Features Of Gmail:
1. Split the inbox:
The Google’s Priority Inbox feature lets you do more by utilizing your on-screen Gmail experience.Move into the Labs page in Gmail, and there you can activate a Preview pane, similar to Outlook,or activate the Multiple Inbox's feature. The multiple inbox feature lets you add a new tab to the Settings, wherein configure 3 liberated panes which matches your search query, like: “unread,starred, important”, alongside each other. Or you can also group your mails based on different labels. But at a single time, you can work only on one feature – priority Inbox, or Multiple Inbox feature.
2. Sync other emails:
You can import your other email application’s email messages into your Gmail account. Just move through the Settings page to Import tab and then select - The Accounts. You can also apply any label on these messages to your choice, or even marking them as Unread.
3. Third party social media applications:
Now get updates from Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn using various third party apps like Rapportive. You can do this by adding Facebook or other account details next to the contact’s lists.
4. To-Do list:
If you do not like to use any third party application for scheduling a message, get a to-do reminder.Go to the – More menu, present just above an email, which you can turn into a to-do task and list that in the calendar.
5. Import images right into your email:
Now you can do away with the age-old feature of “Insert Image” for inserting an image into your email message. Just drag-and-drop the image into the composed message window and you are done. You can do this for inserting images from web pages also.
6. Schedule your email:
If you like to schedule timing for your mails, like sending them at a later stage or at a later date, get a third party extension like Boomerang. It also reminds about follow up of important messages, if they have not got a response for a long time.
7. Exit Conversation Threads:
Sometimes you get embroiled in a mail conversation having multiple receivers, which becomes too bothering, and you just wish to get away from that thread. You can do that by having another great feature: Smart Mute. Go to Gmail Labs and enable the Smart Mute. This can be done away with Gmail Alerter. This gives you a warning about the attachment before sending the mail, if you have wrote the word – “Attach” in your mail and has forgotten to attach the document.To enable this feature, go to - Settings - Labs. Select “Forgotten Attachment Detector” and click on “Enable” and “Save Changes”.
9. Forward Emails Automatically:
This feature is a great option for all those who work as a bridge between receiving and forwarding emails. It will make your work the simplest by forwarding all your emails directly to another account.Go to – Settings. Click on - Forwarding and POP/IMAP option. Then select the - “Forward a copy of incoming mail to”, after which you have to provide the email address of the recipient in the text box,whom you wants to forward your mail to. You can also select the mode of that mail for yourself, like Keep the Email’s copy, or Archive Email’s copy. Or Delete the Email’s copy.
10. Archive all your Emails:
If you have tons of Emails in your Inbox, you need not to delete from those mails to make room for others. Gmail account comes with huge storage. Instead of deleting, you can keep the mails by archiving every or any mail, you wants to.
