ReplyDeleteUbuntu 11.04 will be out this month and will feature their new 'Unity' desktop environment. With new Unity, Gnome 3, KDE4 and xfce to choose from it's never been more awesome to be a Linux user. Since dumping the ol' proprietary O/S I have never looked back.
ReplyDeleteNice work on the tutorial too by the way.
Would this install run side by side with gnome 2, compiz, cairo-docks, nautilus-elementary/globus-preview, cairo-docks, and synapse or does does gnome 3 completely replace gnome 2 and everything associated with it.
ReplyDeleteIf so, can you use compiz and cairo-docks with gnome 3 as oppose to mutter and gnome shell.
Just curious, gnome 3 shell is nice, but i am currently enjoying my customised gnome 2, compiz, cairo-docks, nautilus-elementary, and synapse desktop on a 15' laptop screen.
My other desktop runs ubuntu studio, with all of the above applications, plus dockbarx, and they a re not going to use gnome shell, hence my curiousity.
Hmm, didn't work for me.
